FA 5th round draw analysis

Chelsea head to Doncaster while Liverpool face Manchester City. The 5th round of the Women’s FA Cup sponsored by SSE was drawn today and it
has thrown up some fascinating ties.

The 5th round is when the sides from FAWSL 1 enter the fray and it marks the start of the season for the top flight clubs. Current holders of
the cup Chelsea face a tough tie at newly promoted and six times winners of the cup Doncaster Belles.

Arsenal have won the cup a record 13 times and their quest for another title will begin away to fellow FAWSL 1 side Birmingham City Ladies who won their
one and only FA Cup back in 2012. In the 3rd all top flight tie Liverpool will host Manchester City.

The FAWPL (the third division of English football) is guaranteed to have representation in the last eight as Brighton host Sporting club Albion. Brighton
currently lead the FAWPL south division and beat FAWSL 2 side Oxford United 10-0 earlier in the competition.

Elsewhere in the draw, Sunderland face Yeovil away and Reading host Millwall. Last year’s runners up Notts County have a home tie against Durham and Everton,
who have won the cup on two previous occasions the last being in 2010 travel to fellow FAWSL 2 side Aston Villa.
